About H.I.P
H.I.P(Hot Isostatic Press) Introduction
What is Hot Isostatic Pressing?
By the medium of non-active gases like Argon, the high pressure more than 1000㎏/㎠ and the high temperature more than 1000℃ in H.I.P system make to eliminate the pore in the materials and improve the property of materials.

After H.I.P
It’s impossible that the alloy produced by powder metallurgy method has no any pore and this pore can be the reason of crack and makes the alloy weaken. The H.I.P process can make the alloy has not any pores and contribute to the quality increase of alloy.
H.I.P Effect
- 1. Remove pores inside of sintered alloy products.
- 2. Improve the mechanical property.
- 3. Increase of fatigue strength, compressive strength, tensile strength, wear resistance.
- 4. Customer’s demand for quality improvement.
- 5. Development diverse products & Price competitiveness.
Application of H.I.P
Materials | Primary Aim |
---|---|
Ni- and Co based superalloys Ti alloys, Al alloys, Steels, Cu alloys |
To remove macro porosity and micro porosity |
WC hardmetals, Silicon Nitride, Ceramics | To achieve full theoretical density and to avoid excessive grain growth (difficult by conventional methods) |
High -speed tool steel Metal matrix composites(e.g. Al-SiC) Magnetic materals(e.g. Ferrites) |
To achieve full theoretical density |
Bronze and steel, Ni alloys and steel | To diffusion bond similar & dissimilar materials |
Plasma-sprayed coatings | To bond and densify coatings |
3D Printing | To achieve full theoretical density |
