Nowadays, Green ship(environment friendly shipping) Technology is the topic of shipbuilding industry. 

Green ship technology is to enhance the fuel efficiency and to reduce the greenhouse gas in the process of ship operation. 

Shipbuilding companies are waging a war for making the green ship technology equipped with development of highly efficient engines, the greenhouse gas capture, the hull optimization. 

The International Maritime Organization(IMO) under the United Nations(UN) adopted the Energy Efficiency Design Customer: MAN(Denmark), Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hanwha Engine, MES(Japan) HIP Processing of compound fuel valve nozzle Index (EEDI) which indicates the fuel efficiency for all ships made from 2013.

The EEDI is an index quantifying the amount of carbon dioxide that a ship emits when the 1 ton of goods transported in 1 mile. It is strong regulation to not permit ship which does not satisfy the EEDI to run. According to this, all ships have to reduce 40% carbon dioxide amount by 2050 beginning from 10% reduction by 2015. 

Air pollution prevention regulation that nitrogen oxide amount should be reduced more than 50% of current will go into effect 2016. 

The environment regulation became strengthen, it is becoming interested in environment friendly shipping. For this reason the shipping company can not help increasing the environment friendly shipping time of for saving the fuel cost.
